UAR Seeks Proposals for the Editorship of UAR Term beginning July 1, 2022
SAGE Publishing and UAR’s sponsor, APSA Urban and Local Politics Section, are seeking proposals for the editorship of UAR, for the term beginning July 1, 2022.

Urban Affairs Review (UAR) has been a leading scholarly journal focused on urban politics, policy, and governance for fifty years. Submissions reflecting different scholarly disciplines and methodological perspectives are welcome when the research advances theory and improves our understanding of political processes, policy impacts, and approaches to governance in urban, regional, and metropolitan settings. The Urban Affairs Review is affiliated with American Political Science Association’s section on Urban Politics.
Urban Affairs Review is a peer-reviewed, bi-monthly journal focused on questions of politics, governance, and public policy specifically as they relate to cities and/or their regions.
The editor will be responsible for managing the submission and review process via the ManuscriptCentral submission site, appointing and conferring with the UAR editorial board, and all aspects of the publication process in partnership with SAGE production staff. The editor is expected to maintain timely and effective communication, advance journal performance, and work towards upholding UAR’s high-quality standard.
In their proposals, candidates should discuss their vision for UAR and how the journal can advance an interdisciplinary study of urban politics, policy and governance. They should also discuss how they will identify and promote new perspectives in urban politics—including subtopics, research questions, framing, terminology, theoretical approaches, methodology, and data sources.
Applicants should send a letter of application which includes their vision for the future of the journal and a description of their qualifications for the editorship. Applicants should also include copies of their CV.
Applications, nominations, and requests for additional information should be sent electronically to Ian Balisy, Publishing Editor, at Ian.Balisy@sagepub.com. Please put “UAR Editor Application” in the subject line of your email.
